Despite numerous blocked logging roads, we made it to Glendale: the last city we would visit before the coast!

It feels good to finally be back on the trail. We had another front Africa Twin flat which we fixed using 2 patches. Not the most confidence inspiring solution. Fortunately, the next morning we were able to pick up some new tubes and a drone (Thanks for the new drone, Best Buy! Our first Mavic […]

Our friends the Whitings kindly agreed to host us in their Nampa Idaho home while the 250L waited at a nearby Honda dealer for its new clutch. Larry was even kind enough to drive the 160 miles to McDermitt to pick us and the bikes up. Thanks Larry! We also got to tour the Whitings […]

It took 13 miles of high desert hiking but we made it out! In the town of McDermitt, NV we were able to enlist the help of town’s only general store’s friendly owner: Kenny. With the help of Kenny’s Jeep and two grand daughters, we were able to tow the disabled 250L out of the […]

We were able to repair a cracked crank case with some JB Weld but overzealous clutch slippage leading to a burned out clutch + a limited supply of drinking water posed a bigger challenge. Time to boil some stream water and get ready to hike out for help!

The Nevada desert is quite desolate. Sometimes you don’t see civilization or water for well over 100 miles! But we continue to push through.

Despite even more flats and mosquitoes, we made it through the (slightly) snowy mountains of Utah to Nevada.

An additional flat, large rock step ups, and sandy hill climbs with buried rocks and steep drop offs made for some of our toughest riding yet. But it’s okay because we’re getting to see more and more of Utah’s beauty!

After leaving Moab, we made our way through the Utah desert including the narrow Black Dragon Canyon. It was beautiful! But it also kicked off a string of flats with a rusty nail :/

We made it through the Colorado mountains and into beautiful Moab for a day of rest and some new tires. And a return to much hotter weather!

About Us

We are 2 brothers and one dad who aim to cross America this summer on the Trans-America Trail; a collection of 5000+ miles of dirt roads from the North Carolina Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Ocean in Oregon. Paul is a recent UC Berkeley Computer Science MS grad who will be writing software in San Francisco this fall. Caleb is an SB City College student, rock climber, and drone photographer. The dad is a USMC veteran with a background in graphics, family ministry at Calvary Chapel SB, caregiving, and Community Service work with SB Police. They all like motorcycles. And encourage following Christ even more than following motorcycle blogs! Middle brother Cory is off to Peru this summer and bless the mom's support from home. Our summer will be an adventure of dual-sport-riding-camping-photographing-sketching our way west from early June to mid-July, 2017. We should soon connect with 3 Honda motorcycles. Some time around the first week of June, you can visit the website of Motorcyclist Magazine for other cool postings with aerial drone shots and more.
